Research Focus
Natural Products, Drug Discovery & Development
- Isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive compounds (anti-mitotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, anti-ulcer, anti-pyrexia, hypolipidemic, anti-malarial) from Philippine medicinal plants
- Identification of enzymatic inhibitors from plant extracts with potential therapeutic applications (acetylcholinesterase, angiotensin-converting enzyme, lipase, lipoxygenase, xanthine oxidase, HMG-CoA reductase)
- Identification of drug targets
- Optimization of physico-chemical drug properties
