At a Glance
The Institute of Chemistry traces its beginnings to 1910, when it was formally organized as the Department of Chemistry. The development of the Department progressed through the years except for a four-year break (1941–1945) due to World War II.
It was reorganized and finally became an Institute in November 1987. At present, the Institute of Chemistry is one of the degree-granting units of the College of Science at the University of the Philippines in Diliman and serves as a premier training ground for chemists in the country.
