Mentor Selection
The procedure for selecting a thesis/dissertation advisor is as follows:
- During the student’s first semester in the graduate program, s/he must interview at least three (3) senior faculty members to find a suitable thesis/dissertation advisor. Student must accomplish the Graduate Mentor Selection Form 1 (Interview Form), signed by the faculty members interviewed. - Student selects a suitable thesis/dissertation advisor based on his/her research interests. If the chosen mentor agrees to accept the student in his/her research group, student must then accomplish the Graduate Mentor Selection Form 2 (Acceptance Form), signed by both the student and the mentor. Student must submit a soft copy of both Forms 1 and 2 to the IChem DDRE by the end of his/her first semester in the graduate program.
- In case the student transfers to another thesis/dissertation advisor, s/he must accomplish the Graduate Mentor Selection Form 3 (Transfer Form), signed by the student, the previous mentor, and the new mentor.
Completed forms must be submitted through email to the IChem DDRE: ichem.research.upd@up.edu.ph.
Form 1 (Interview Form) | Submit by the end of your first semester in the program |

Form 3 (Transfer Form) | Submit only when you are transferring to another research advisor |
The email format should be as follows:
Email subject: | LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL, COURSE |
PDF File name format: | LAST NAME_Graduate Mentor Selection Form No. (example: DELA CRUZ_Graduate Mentor Selection Form 1) |
