Guidelines

Graduate students must take two (2) seminar courses (one unit each) to complete their program of study.

• for MS students: Choose two from the Chem 29x series 
• for PhD students: Choose two from the Chem 39x series 

Taking two seminar courses in one semester is allowed, provided that the guidelines are strictly followed.

Pre-requisites:

• Students will be allowed to enrol in seminar courses after completing the following units of graduate courses.
  • for MS students: 9 units
  • for PhD students: 12 units

Selection of seminar courses:

• One (1) must be in the chemistry field covering the student’s research topic.
  • Student will be allowed to enrol only with the consent of his/her thesis/dissertation adviser
  • Student must present his/her thesis/dissertation proposal in class (must be done before the student’s actual proposal defense) 
• One (1) must be in a different chemistry field, but still relevant to the student’s research topic.
  • Student must present a literature review with at least 5 references that are recent (within the past 5 years)
